Proseminars
The Institute for Theoretical Physics offers proseminars with varying topics. Each proseminar can accommodate around 20 students. Usually there is one proseminer offered in the fall and three proseminars in the spring semester.
Each year, topics for the spring semester proseminars are fixed mid November, with a signup deadline early December.
Topics for the upcoming fall semester are provided mid June, with a signup deadline end of June. Decisions of whether you have been admitted to a proseminar are sent out a couple of days after the signup deadline.
In general, proseminars at the ITP are scheduled Monday mornings from 7.45am to 11.15am during the semester. Usually, presentations start two or three weeks into the semester to leave room for preparation. Presence is mandatory for at least 80% of talks.
Places in the proseminars are limited. There is a dedicated number of spots for Bachelor and Master students for each proseminar, which is set by the Lecturer and provided at the proseminar page for the respective semester. A application link is provided there as well. When applying, you can provide a list of preferences of the proseminars offered. In case of oversigning, a random procedure will be used to distribute spots.
